Manchester City Begin Premier League Season with 2-0 Victory over West Ham
Citizens flex their muscles, Sterling and Foden score
Manchester, United Kingdom
Manchester City began their Premier League title defense with a comfortable 2-0 victory over West Ham at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden scored the goals as the Citizens made a statement of intent.
City dominated possession from the outset and took the lead in the 25th minute when Sterling tapped home from close range after a clever pass from Kevin De Bruyne. The hosts continued to create chances throughout the first half but were unable to add to their lead.
West Ham improved after the break but were always second best to a rampant City side. Foden sealed the victory in the 84th minute with a clinical finish after being played through by Sterling.
The victory takes City top of the Premier League table, while West Ham are left to rue a disappointing start to their campaign.
