Shelley Alexis Duvall's Career Spanned Decades

Shelley Alexis Duvall, known for her distinctive and often eccentric roles, passed away on July 11, 2024. She was 75 years old.

Duvall's breakout role came in Robert Altman's 1970 film "MASH," where she played a quirky army nurse. She went on to star in several more Altman films, including "McCabe & Mrs. Miller" (1971), "Thieves Like Us" (1974), and "Nashville" (1975).

In 1980, Duvall's career reached its peak when she starred as Wendy Torrance in Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining." Her portrayal of the isolated and terrorized wife remains one of the most iconic performances in horror cinema.

After "The Shining," Duvall's career declined as she struggled with mental health issues. She made fewer films in the following years, and her last major role was in the 2002 film "Manna from Heaven."

Duvall's partner, Dan Gilroy, confirmed her death and said that she had died of natural causes. She will be remembered for her unique and unforgettable screen presence that captivated audiences for decades.
